At Russia you don't have many cekebration, however one that awake the national pride is the Cosmonaut's day. Cosmonaut it's the same that astronaut, this celebration happens at Russia, and it's a recess there. In that day people celebrate the first time that one man was at Orbit of Planet Earth. It's celebrated in honor of the first manned space flight by Russian astronaut Yuri Alekseevich Gagarin, who completed a lap in Earth orbit last one hour and forty eight minutes abord the spacecraft Vostok 1.

This was one of the greatest successes of the Soviet space program, having repercussions worldwide. Gagarin immediately became not only a hero of the Soviet Union but a world hero. Major newspapers around the world published his biography and details of his flight. Moscow and other large cities of the USSR organized parades, which were only lower than stops of victory in World War II. The joy was so great that people cried and danced in the streets.
With honors Gagarin was escorted by a long line of cars with high-ranking officers in the streets of Moscow to the Kremlin where he received the highest Soviet honor, the title of Hero of the Soviet Union, Soviet leader Nikita Khrushchev.
